What is Licencing?
This is relevant for ‘Characters for BIZ’ and ‘Kat for Authors’.
Simply put illustration licensing and pricing go hand in hand. The wider the usage of an illustration and the bigger the audience it’s likely to reach, the higher it’s value… so it’s reasonable to expect that this would be reflected in the illustrator’s fee. For example, the fee for an illustration to be used on a flyer for a small, independent shop would be vastly different to the cost for a similar illustration being used on a wide scale billboard campaign for a global brand.
How do I order a Kat & Fox illustration?
Under the ‘What I can do for you’ tab or at the bottom of the Home page, select the category you desire, for example “Characters by Kat”, “Name Arts by Kat”
etc.. Then select the item/s you want, and you will be taken to the cart, you will pay and then you will receive an email requesting more information and photos from you. This is to make sure I can personalise the artwork just for you.
How do you create the illustrations
Each one of your illustrations is hand drawn on an IPAD pro using the program Procreate. My style has always been sketchy linework and loose watercolour colours. You have seen my work; would you have known?
The benefits of digital are that you are provided with a digital file that can be printed onto any surface; T shirts, posters, mugs, stickers, greeting cards…the list is endless.
What do you mean by theme?
With Names Arts and Characters, you can choose to have a full theme. An example could be that the person you are gifting a Name Art to loves the circus. I would then add into the background a circus theme as if straight out of a story book to work in with the letters of the name. If this was a them chosen for a Character by Kat, I would have the character standing on an elephant juggling many coloured balls, wearing a ring master outfit. Again, placing the character in the page of a story.
